Personality:
Yahoo! Hi, Link!
On initial meeting it’s very easy to get a good gauge on Saria. One of the unofficial leaders of the tribe, Saria is very well-respected amongst the other Kokiri children. While being fun-loving and childlike as the others, Saria also acts much more mature and down to earth. Especially when compared to Mido, the other tribe leader, who is very bossy and possessive.
Link was permitted to live amongst the Kokiri at a very young age, cast as the outsider. And yet he became and remained Saria’s best friend through the years. Not once did she ever see Link as the outcast, demonstrating the great amount of compassion Saria has. Same for the Skull Kid, Saria has the amazing capacity to make friends with the most unlikely people. And she has a strong loyalty to that friendship; she was the only one who defended Link from the vicious rumor that he was the one who killed the Great Deku Tree, and even after seven years of no word Saria happily offered her power as a Sage to help Link after he awoken.
And at the same time Saria is very brave and responsible. Even before awakening as the Sage, Saria willingly braved the dangers of the Lost Woods. Her secret place, the Sacred Forest Meadow, teems with monsters of all shapes and sizes, even more so when Ganondorf’s power began to corrupt the Forest Temple. Saria was the only Kokiri to go meet the danger, feeling that she had to do something about it before the evil spilled into the Kokiri Village.
Oh, you're leaving... I knew... that you would leave the forest... someday, Link... Because you are different from me and my friends.... But that's OK, because we'll be friends forever... won't we? I want you to have this Ocarina... Please take good care of it. When you play my Ocarina, I hope you will think of me and come back to the forest to visit.
Being an ageless being within an undying forest, Saria very rarely ever had to come face to face with death or loss, and then suddenly one day there were two: the death of the Great Deku’s Tree and Link’s departure from the forest. Understandably she was saddened, her last meeting with Link drenched in a bittersweet tone. And yet Saria has the ability to accept change. She knew deep down this was the way the world had to be, and she gave Link a precious gift: her ocarina. It’s value was measured in their friendship to one another, and she quietly watched in silence as Link left his childhood home.
Abilities:
Sage ▴ Awakened as the Sage of the Forest, Saria has a powerful bond to the forest. The forest spirits have always spoken to her, letting the girl know of its pain and guiding her to where the evil had corrupted it. As its protector, Saria’s also granted the wisdom of the former Sages.
Ageless ▴ Saria is a Kokiri, a child-like race of beings. So despite her age being around the same as adult!Link’s, physically she doesn’t look a day over thirteen. And now with her being a Sage and outside the realm of time itself, age really doesn’t matter when it comes to her.
Song ▴ Lastly, Saria has a special song that she only teaches to her friends. The song, titled ‘Saria’s Song’ has special powers when played: those who play it are magically able to talk to Saria, and the song somehow can calm troubled or troublesome minds.
